Ghouls, ghosts, goblins, not to mention pirates, princesses, witches and others paraded for several hours through Crystal Pointe.
The warm, clear October evening rewarded everyone who participated with a sense of fun and excitement. Not only did children race up and down the sidewalks trick or treating, but many costumed parents escorted them. Though not as scarey, they were no less inventive. There were Civil War Belles, a Civil War soldier, a clown, the creepy villain from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, and a jester among others.
Children and parents also enjoyed various set ups throughout the neighborhood. Tom Brink hosted treats for kids and samples of his homemade wine for adults. Bent Oak Circle hosted the most elaborate set up. Each side of the street was lined with ghosts carrying torches. A CD player pumped eerie music into the night. A family of ghouls sat at a welcome table to entice you to select your treats. Here, residents of the circle had displays on their lawns, had built a large arbor in the circle’s center where all the goodies were located. For many hours other neighbors stopped by and enjoyed each other’s company as they discussed their favorite horror film, the scariest of the SAW movies, which child visitor had the best costume, etc.
I apologize for not visiting even more areas of the neighborhood where I’m sure there were equally exciting things happening.
I also want to thank all the parents (Karin, Ken, Johnn, etc) and children who let me take their photograph for the newsletter and for the website. HOWEVER, I’m sad to report that in preparing the photos, some 20 of them, for web publication, they were accidentally erased.
I tried many tricks to recover them, but they are gone - much like the spirits who roam All Hallow’s Eve.
