Has a baby come to our neighborhood in the form of a stork? Well, OK maybe a blue heron?

Homeowner Laura Nicodemus is convinced that we have two baby blue herons that regularly visit Crystal Pointe. They might even have been born somewhere on Crystal Pointe property.

The photo below shows as best as possible the baby on the top of a willow tree not far from Laura’s house. Clearly, without seeing a long neck, one cannot help but wonder if it is a heron.

However, Laura visited the Cornell Lab of Ornithology (on the internet, of course) and obtained a description of what a baby heron looks like. The silhouette provided by the website and a description of the markings was a match! Sadly, we cannot print the photo in color so you can see for yourself. However, it is posted on the website.

As an interesting outgrowth of this sighting, why not submit photos of interesting material to the newsletter/website. Some may have old photos of Crystal Pointe before its completion with deer and other animals wandering freely about. Or, you may have a glorious sunset, a photo of a rainbow, or a rare tree or flower. Or, whatever!!! Be creative. Send material to bigjohn65@comcast.net.
